Understanding Our Feelings

This series started by scanning black and white educational flashcards that were made by Instructo Corporation in 1967. Cards that were intended as a learning aid and designed to teach children how to read emotions in others. Once in digital form, each image is next layered and blended with multiple original photographs. The resulting print is a mash-up of my thoughts and experiences from the last few years of living with the fear of  Covid-19.  Time has taken on a surreal quality.  Every day is the same yet not.  Days pass slowly while weeks speed by.  Each final photograph is a compression of time, obscured and retrofitted until the past is brought into the present as a darkly veiled vision of what life has become.  This is the first iteration of understanding my own feelings and is an ongoing series.
